Hi! I’m so happy that you’re interested in working with me.

I’m a queer, certified full spectrum doula in Baltimore, MD. I serve families in Baltimore City and surrounding areas. Not sure if that’s you? Feel free to reach out regardless. I especially love working with queer families, plus-size folks, first-time parents, and multiples.

I believe that the perfect birth and postpartum plan is the one that makes you feel safe, confident and able to care for your self, your relationships, and your children. As a doula, I want to support you in achieving that, whatever it looks like for you.

I am CPR and First Aid Certified. I attend trainings and further my education as a birth worker whenever possible, and I seek out resources and trainings for myself and my clients that align with my values of anti-racism, inclusive care, reproductive justice, and bodily autonomy.

Testimonials

Nowadays with families and friends spread out, plus the pandemic, it is very easy to feel isolated those first few weeks post baby. And for me, who couldn’t remember the last time I held a baby or changed a diaper pre-Hope, the thought of bringing home a baby without a support network was overwhelming. From a pre-baby visit to help prep, meal deliveries (with delicious lactation treats), guidance and encouragement, help around the house, and an extra pair of hands so I can eat lunch, I’m so thankful to have her support for a few hours a week as I’ve tackled this new role as mama. During pregnancy it was so easy for me to get swept up in finding the “best” X baby item and stressing over my birth plan, but prepping for postpartum life (including finding support systems) really has been the key to me surviving (and some days even thriving) these first few weeks post baby.

Marissa was very focused on providing the support that would meet our specific needs. One of the things that I really appreciated was that she helped contact lactation consultants and set up an appointment while I was still in the Hospital. Her attention was on the whole family and in supporting us in the postpartum transition. Marissa is a very caring and intuitive person and my partner and I both felt comfortable with her from the start. Any parent would be fortunate to have Marissa as their doula. I think her creative nature lends itself well to this profession and she will continue to develop unique and thoughtful approaches to meet each family where they are and provide the best support possible.

Comfort Measures

Any information that I provide to clients is evidence-based. I am fully vaccinated, and stay up to date on boosters. I practice masking, careful hand hygiene, and transparency regarding known or potential exposures to COVID-19. I take these measures to protect the vulnerable people that I work with and I ask that my clients do the same.
